Development of Speech and Puppetry
Saturday, February 24 2018, 8:30am to 5pm
Sunday, February 25 2018, 8:30am to 5pm
We will cover a wide variety of age appropriate material to support the development of speech in the young child, birth to seven years old. We will touch upon helpful elements for establishing a storytelling mood; how one frames a story; gesture and the quality of voice; ways of memorizing a story.
Everyone will have the opportunity to construct a simple standing puppet using unspun wool and a felting needle. Materials will be supplied. We will be creating a nursery rhyme character. You can choose your favourite character, but please make it be a human being. There will be time to learn how to hold your puppet and move your puppet. We will take the time to practice so when you return to the children in your care you will have a really wonderful gift for them.
